During our Kashmir trip, while waiting for our vehicle near the Dal lake, we saw a few policemen with lathis standing in full attention. Suddenly I see Samika who was 1.5 years old then, walking to the policeman from behind and taking the lathi from his hand nonchalantly. The policeman, first got astonished and then realizing it was a child, laughed and asked her to give the lathi back, to which she firmly said, “Nahi” (a new word which she had learnt during the trip). She took the lathi and started walking away from him. It was a funny sight to see a stern policeman used to dealing with hardcore criminals, trying all his soft skills to get his lathi back from her.
