Pros and Benefits
The Sub Patroller is bright, colorful, and very true to the show. It’s sturdy and displays lovely lights and realistic sounds, as advertised. It is easy to assemble and comes with batteries so it is ready to be played with right out of the box. It also perfectly fits the Ryder figurine.
Cons and Drawbacks
The figure that comes with this set is somewhat stiff and it can be difficult to move his head, legs, and arms. The set does fit the figurine well, but it does not open completely so the play is somewhat limited. Also, although this toy is a rendered to look like a submarine, it cannot be submerged in water. Moreover, no “pup” figurines are included.
Fun Additional Ideas
This playset is a good way to start conversations about real life submarines such as their history and usefulness. Moreover, the entire “PAW Patrol” series is a good excuse to discuss rescue personnel and the kind of beneficial work that they do.
The Sub Patroller is made for kids aged 3+. It is equipped to sail the imaginary sea but cannot be submerged in water. It requires three AAA batteries and retails for $29.99. To purchase this item, see here.
