Ananya has been taking Bharatnatyam dance lessons. One of the key teachings of Bharatnatyam is to apologize to BhoomiDevi (Mother Earth) for the forthcoming onslaught of footwork on her by doing a Namaskaram (Vandana) in the beginning of the dance lesson.
Now, this really got her thinking. She unleashed a trail of questions on me..
“So, How does BhooDevi carry the earth?..”
“Does she carry it like you carried me when I was a baby?”
“But, how can she hold a ball (the globe) like that all the time?”
“Does she play catch-catch sometimes?”
“Do Earthquakes occur when she moves the Earth to change positions? Like she could move it from the hands to her shoulders or her head??”
